Journey begins, attempt at passive income- Affiliate Niche Site

Afternoon,

I’ve been looking into this for awhile and actually listened to at least 30 of the podcasts over at Smart Passive Income.  Pat Flynn and his guests have been monumental if shortening my learning curve.  Clickbank’s own knowledge library helped with a few of the final questions I had, well at least in the sense of tipping me over the point of no return.

Here is roughly the order in which I went about the entire process. (will edit as things move along)

  1. Think of a niche
    1. I’m actually a pretty big nerd and played alot of video games growing up, specifically Activision Blizzard’s World of Warcraft.  Despite having gone sober ( or so is the joke, because the game is known to be very addicting like crack… no joke, ask around they will confirm!) about 5 years ago, I have been keeping up regarding their stock price, news and of course the expansions that are being released.  This choice is good for several reasons:
      1. New HUGE expansion just came out on 8/30 (my original idea for this was about a month ago, but darn writing procrastination)
      2. It’s been known for years that there are paid guides for all aspects of the game. Raiding, gold accumulation, leveling and more… (yay products already)
      3. It’s still got an incredible following. 5.5 Million monthly subscribers as of 11/2015 when Blizzard made its last and final update.  Personally i know this number is alot higher with it’s expansion release because I even “re-upped.” Also on average has 1.5 mm searches for World of Warcraft on google, with a ~5mm count spike in June with the Expansion.
      4. The demographic is already used to spending money for the game!! To the tune of $15-$60/mo
  2. Product
    1. Is there a product to sell and what?  Well turns out Clickbank.com to the rescue.  They have a small handful of Wow guides ranging from Wow Gold Guides, to Wow Leveling guides and even an Elder scrolls one that pops up for some reason.  I’ve tentatively chosen 3 guides and plan to have a simple review site comparing them both with some pros and cons. (That way either one they choose, I make a sale 🙂  Win Win! )
      1. “Boost” by Dynasty Addons
      2. World of Warcraft Guides by Dugi
      3. Hayden’s World of Warcraft Secret Gold Guide by Hayden Hawke
    2. These all have 20+ gravity ratings and great average sales prices and percentages!  The real score is that all three have been around for sometime now and have great followings! Score! Some good news is some of these are companies or people that have other guides also, which will help with content creation later on and potentially more traffic and more sales. *fingers crossed*
  3. Keywords
    1. Now the homework and the real grind is to find out if there is anyone even looking for these guides (searches) and if they are, what are the keywords I’ll need to rank for to get them.  (working on it…..
  4. Website
    1. Domain
    2. Hosting
    3. Apps/Programs
  5. Marketing
    1. PPC- Adwords/Facebook
    2. Social Sharing
    3. other?
  6. Analytics
    1. Checkup
    2. Optimize
    3. walk away

Goal: 2016 to make $100 off of this site so thats about 3 months to get things settled. Then for 2017 I plan to get this to $100/mo minimum.
